Why Driving Traffic Should Not be Your Priority

Based on my experience with dealing with a lot of new bloggers I have observed that the number one concern of most of these bloggers is getting traffic to their blog. After visiting the blogs of some of these new bloggers one major thing I do observe is that their blog is in no way prepared to receive traffic.

Traffic is important and it is one of the things every blogger and internet marketer needs because without traffic you can hardly achieve any result, but it is also very important for you to realize that traffic isn’t the all in all of building a successful blog. This article will be giving you a few reasons why driving traffic to your blog shouldn’t be your number one priority.Viral Nova like website

Traffic Isn’t All that Matters

When it comes to driving traffic to your blog you need to understand the difference between any traffic and quality traffic. Instead of aggressively driving traffic to your blog using every technique you can lay your hands upon you need to start thinking about what technique you think is best for you and how to go about it.

For example, if you are someone who sells physical products on your websites the best way to market your blog might not be through guest blogging; you will get better results by focusing on traffic from the search engines.

You also need to realize that not all traffic is equal, so instead of obsessing over getting a lot of traffic you should focus on getting “traffic that matters”, irrespective of how small it is.

A Personal Example

Almost a year ago I used to think that traffic is the only thing that matters, I really didn’t believe in the power of great content or preparing a blog for the traffic about to come, I just thought that if I could get 1,000 people to visit my blog in one day I will be able to get at least 500 people to be visiting my blog daily from thenceforth.

I started writing a lot of guest posts for every blog I could come across and suddenly I landed a guest post on a very big blog in my niche. My first guest post on that blog was published and I sat down and watched how I got my best traffic day. In less than 24 hours I have been able to get over 1,000 people to visit my blog, I was so happy and I thought I have just achieved a major blogging breakthrough.

You wouldn’t believe that the next week of getting those 1,000 visitors in one day I went back to getting my average 150 visitors a day. It was then that I realized that traffic shouldn’t be a priority, but one should rather focus on making the traffic he/she gets stick.

Build Your Subscriber Base

One of the best things I did as a blogger was to focus on building my subscriber base. I currently have a list of thousands of subscribers and whenever I send an email to my list promoting my latest blog post it ends up going viral.

Instead of focusing on getting more traffic to your blog why not focus on building a big email list that you can leverage in the future? This way you won’t have to depend on how often you write to keep traffic to your blog stable.
