How to Have More Efficient Manufacturing Processes

It is very important to make sure that your business is working as efficiently as possible in the modern manufacturing world. By eliminating wastefulness and making sure that your products are delivered in the best manner you can achieve, your business is then sure to be a definite success. So, the question you might be asking yourself as a manufacturing owner is how to make sure that you have the right processes in place to be more efficient. Thankfully for you, you are in the right place as this guide has been created to ensure a few ways to allow your business to be successful. Read on now to learn all about having an efficient manufacturing processes.

Use Automatic Mobile Robots

If you are looking to cut costs on workers and ensure a round-the-clock operation, then your business must invest in automatic mobile robots. They can be trained to memorize every part of the factory floor and then set off and do work quickly and efficiently. The types of robots that you should be interested in are lifts, pallet trucks, drones, and tractors, meaning that you will have a fleet to take on every part of the manufacturing process. Take a look now for AMR solutions that work for your business.

Use Smart Management Systems

Despite the rise of automation, which is projected to take more manufacturing jobs in the coming years, there will still be people at the heart of your manufacturing business. That’s why it is important to make sure that you have a smart management system to know who is coming in and working on any particular project. The days of clocking in with a slip of paper is definitely over — replace it with a smarter digital system, and your company’s productivity is sure to improve as a result.

Have Clear Workstations

One way to ensure a poorly-run workplace is by having your employees waste time before they actually get started. This can easily be caused if your workstations are not properly signposted. That’s why it makes sense to have clear workstations that allow workers to quickly pick up their tools before getting on with work. It makes sense to complement this with clear signage that allows people to see where they need to go and what they need to do from when they walk into the factory.

Use a Just-in-Time Manufacturing Principle

Being efficient is not just about working as fast as possible, it’s also about making sure that you eliminate any kind of wastefulness. One way to do this is to adhere to a just-in-time manufacturing principle, as famously popularized by Toshiba in Japan. This means that you only have the number of materials you need to at any given time, allowing you to be far more agile and lean. Unfortunately, by having too much material on stock, you are basically paying more than you need to, thus causing losses eventually for your company.

Pay Your Employees More

If there’s anything that kills manufacturing processes dead in the water, it’s unions and strikes. While it is the right of any business employee to form a union, especially when they believe that they are not being fairly compensated for their work, they can be very bad for business. This is why you should definitely try and put guardrails in place to prevent this from happening. Currently, due to a lack of demand for jobs thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, higher wages will be needed to lure workers in. So, make sure you have the budget to raise wages to ensure that you are attracting the top talent, who will be more efficient.

Despite what some people might say on the internet, there is no magic single bullet that will help your business to be more efficient. Instead, it is recommended to take a look and implement every single one of the recommendations written above. Additionally, if you find yourself struggling in the near future, it might be worth revisiting this article to refresh yourself about the most efficient manufacturing processes around.

Industrial Warehouse Tools: This Is What Professionals Recommend

There’s more to setting up a warehouse than simply finding a large, spacious building in which to store your products: there are several different industrial warehouse tools and pieces of equipment that you need to invest in to ensure that your business runs efficiently and all your products are stored correctly. If you are in the process of setting up your own warehousing business or simply want to get some ideas for what you can improve, read on to discover six essential tools for an industrial warehouse.

6 Things Needed to Run an Industrial Warehouse Efficiently

Industrial Warehouse Tools - 6 Essential Tools for an industrial warehouse

1. Shelving

You are likely to be storing thousands of items, all of which need to be stored safely and efficiently to make the most of your industrial warehouse space. To do this, look for shelving units that are several levels high for efficient use of your space. Sub-standard shelving that is unable to support your stock could be hazardous and eventually collapse, potentially injuring warehouse operatives and destroying hundreds of dollars’ worth of stock. Make sure that your industrial shelving is robust and durable and is able to safely hold a large amount of weight. Look for heavy-duty shelving made from galvanized steel that is able to support large amounts of weight.

2. Conveyor system

A conveyor system is essential for the efficient navigation of the warehouse and retrieval of products. Rather than setting warehouse operatives to manually retrieve and carry items to the order preparation zone, industrial conveyor belt systems can make the process safer and more efficient. Make sure that you choose a conveyor belt that is durable, made from heavy-duty rubber or synthetic fabric, and can withstand heavy loads. Additionally, ensure that you train staff to use the conveyor system correctly, as incorrect handling can cause tears and other damage to the conveyor belt, as well as damage to the products being transported.

3. Location tracking technology

Your industrial warehouse is likely to store thousands of products; as such, it can be impossible to remember where a specific item is shelved, potentially leading to warehouse operatives spending large amounts of time searching for each order. For complete tracking and traceability of your products, and therefore to speed up the retrieval process, you could invest in location tracking technology, such as RFID Discovery. With the help of handheld devices, this technology reduces processing delays and search times as it can identify exactly where an item is located in the warehouse. Furthermore, by recording information about stock, you can keep an eye on stock levels to ensure that you are not overordering on a particular item.

4. Forklift truck

A forklift truck is an essential tool for any warehouse, even if you are handling smaller, lighter items. It can be used to safely load and unload palettes onto shelving and delivery vehicles, as well as retrieving larger products that cannot be transported on the conveyor system. Ensure that staff is trained correctly in handling forklift trucks, whether or not they are driving one. Forklift trucks can potentially be hazardous, so ensure that safety protocols are followed when moving about the industrial warehouse to prevent accidents in the warehouse.

5. Ventilation system

Ensuring that your industrial warehouse is well ventilated is essential for providing desirable indoor conditions, both for the comfort of your warehouse operatives and the longevity of your products. This might involve bringing cool, fresh air into an environment that can quickly become overheated and stuffy or removing noxious fumes or vapors if you are working with industrial chemicals. Additionally, your industrial warehouse might store certain products that require cold or chilled storage to maintain their freshness, such as fresh food, flowers, and other perishables. A ventilation system will ensure that you maintain the correct temperature and air quality throughout your warehouse.

6. Lighting

Warehouses are often large-scale, cavernous buildings that lack windows that let in natural light; as such, it is essential that there is an adequate lighting system running throughout your warehouse building to ensure maximum visibility. Choose LED lighting with a recommended LUX lighting level of 100 lux. Keep in mind that you can get away with dimmer lighting for larger objects, as they are more readily recognizable, whereas smaller objects will require brighter lighting to be identified.

4 DevOps Must-Dos For Development Project Success

4 DevOps Must-Dos For Development Project Success
Big businesses and small and medium enterprises are turning to technological advancements in order to grow and scale during the ongoing pandemic. We are going to be discussing some of the must-dos for development project success.

More businesses are turning to technology to grow their businesses into major companies. This has become an essential part of scaling and growth in competitive industries. But business growth via tech can be challenging. To achieve tech success, whether your business is large or small, a few DevOps must-dos are important to check off.

Why DevOps? In today’s digital age, DevOps allows businesses to gain a competitive edge. Let’s say you have an ecommerce company. Your industry is online retail, but by employing tech, you can scale your ecommerce company to unprecedented heights.

“The intention of DevOps is to create better-quality software more quickly and with more reliability while inviting greater communication and collaboration between teams,” according to DZone.

What type of DevOps tech can help? There are plenty of tech tools to choose from when it comes to synergizing development and operations. For example, JFrog serves up container images that help developer teams manage and organize Docker images.

This is just one example of how tech can be used to advance your business, regardless of your primary industry. Let’s take a deeper look at a few more must-dos for development project success.

1. Scalable Development Tools Are Essential For Project Success

Having scalable tools and platforms in place can certainly give your business a competitive edge. Let’s say you are building out your tech teams and you already have a handful of qualified development experts on hand. This is great, but without scalable tools, many experts can’t operate at optimal levels.

Most DevOps pros know the value of having the right tools for the job. Tools can add massive value to development processes, like security and portability, coding, analysis, and project management.

Give your team the scalable tools they need to be effective, efficient, and productive. This makes bringing tech to the forefront much easier, especially when you are bringing new products and/or services to market.

2. Ensure Tech And DevOps Is Part Of The Entire Business Equation

Having tech more prevalent in your business is no easy task. Many of your current team members may not see the value right away. This makes having tech part of the overall business equation a must-do.

Many businesses fail when it comes to this. Decision-makers will often implement tech without involving the entire business structure, making adoption of tech difficult. However, when tech and DevOps are part of the business’ DNA, adoption becomes easy and quick.

Present tech as a business strategy that benefits everyone at the company. Make it known that by employing DevOps processes, the entire business will grow and the success will trickle down to every team member.

3. Make Tech Highly Accessible Across All Departments

Make Tech Highly Accessible Across All Departments
You can improve efficiency and increase the overall turn around time of your team by making technology highly accessible for your DevOps team if you aim for your project development success.

You can implement the most advanced technology with expert DevOps teams at the core. But if tech is not accessible across all departments, you may be missing the mark for development project success. Accessibility is a very important must-do box to check.

With all departments and project stakeholders able to easily access technology, projects become far more efficient. You can then maximize productivity and bring more development products and/or services to market. There is also an internal element to this.

Tech development is not solely an external business affair. It can also be used internally to streamline all business processes. For example, HR documents and policy updates can be found in one internal intranet, thus automating processes and making time-consuming aspects automated.

4. Track Progress Of Employed Business Technology

Not all tech is going to be useful, and in most cases, you will not know what is working and what is not until it is in place. When it comes to DevOps must-dos for development project success, it is critical to track progress of the tech employed.

For instance, set up key metrics to assess the validity of a technology used for a specific business workflow. If the metrics are not up to par with the goals of the project and business, then it is good to tweak or eliminate the tech from the process.

Tracking progress and getting valuable feedback from your DevOps team, as well as the organization as a whole will help guide your technology decisions in the future. This also helps you not waste valuable resources on tech that is not doing the job.

Is Your Business Ready To Inject Tech For Success?

Finding ways to be competitive in your industry can prove challenging. But there are ways to utilize technology to gain the edge you want and need to own more market share. The above DevOps must-dos can be useful in this goal. What type of DevOps changes have you made to gain more traction in your industry?

Why You Need a Technical Co-Founder for Your Startup

The barrier to entry for launching a startup is much lower today than it was ten years ago. Today, anyone who has an idea and the dedication and patience to build a company around it can watch their company grow. Compared to the 90s, there are many more resources available for startup founders who have revolutionary ideas. Those who want to take their passion projects to the commerce space have the opportunity to do so.

But while starting a business is easy, succeeding in business is entirely another story. Startup founders who aren’t technical will face unique challenges when it comes to the digital end of things, and this could be very problematic for long-term growth. Technical co-founders understand how to implement DevOps with platforms like JFrog, how to automate processes to push code quicker, and how to leverage the best programming language for your needs.

Why You Need a Technical Co-Founder For Your Startup Business Idea

Why You Need a Technical Co-Founder for Your Startup
Starting a business in this era requires more than just an idea, you need the right expertise. This sole reason is one of the best reasons why you need to have a technical co-founder to support in bringing your idea to reality.

There are many reasons you will need co-founders for pioneering your startup idea, but here are a few other reasons why you’ll need a technical co-founder for your startup:

1. On Site Technical Experience

Even if your startup company isn’t grounded in technology, there’s no disputing the fact we live in a digital age, and you’ll need technical experience at some point along your journey. The ability to have a professional on-site to aid your technical needs will prove crucial as you move forward. Whether you’re building a mobile application, a custom client portal, or a website, a technical cofounder is there to guide you along the way. Without one, you may find yourself outsourcing your technology needs. And while there’s nothing inherently wrong with outsourcing, major projects in small-sized organizations are typically best dealt with in-house.

2. Stronghold on Intellectual Property

Many technical needs and software development projects are outsourced. Some software development companies focus on specific niches, programming languages, or other specialties. But when you look at the long-term picture, if you plan to maintain the highest hold on your intellectual property, it’s important to keep all of your code in-house. Working with an agency, you never know who has eyes on your work—even if the company seems pretty trustworthy.

Furthermore, if you become too dependent on a third-party company, you may find yourself relying on them anytime something goes wrong or anytime you’d like to make improvements. If that company were to go under, you’d have to start with a new software development company from scratch, and getting all your data or asking questions to the previous company might be impossible.

Lastly, from an investment standpoint, having complete control over your intellectual property makes sense. Investors want to be able to speak to everyone in the company and most especially to any technical members that play a key role in shaping its early foundation.

3. Save Money

The early stages of a startup are crucial. This is when how you spend your dollars will have the biggest impact on the company—likely for years to come. Having a technical founder makes it possible for you to save money during this critical time. As you may already understand, oftentimes, founders don’t give themselves a salary until the company is profitable. They continue to put any earned dollars back into the business.

Without a technical co-founder, you’ll have to pay a salary to a tech-savvy employee, even if this salary ends up hurting your business during those critical early days. A typical developer expects a high five-figure or low six-figure salary; something you may not be able to dedicate the funds to right now. Many of those developers are not willing to take a pay cut without major stock options, especially when technical individuals and developers are so highly sought after right now.

4. Higher Degree of Commitment

No one is as committed to a business as its founders. This doesn’t mean standard employees can’t be committed to your success. However, chances are no one is as committed to the success of the company as its founders. When you take on a developer as a co-founder, you benefit from a much higher degree of commitment than a regular staff member. That person understands that the company’s success is equivalent to their own. Technical co-founders aren’t just worried about cashing a check at the end of the day, but in building a business that represents them while and that will thrive for many years to come.

5. Allows You to Hone in on Your Focus

As a non-technical founder, chances are you want to put your time and energy into the areas of your business where you’re strongest. When you have a technical cofounder, you’re able to do so with much greater ease. Instead of worrying about many of the all-around concepts you might be concerned about, you can hone in on your greatest assets and what you can bring to the company. Whether you’re a savvy seller or prefer to focus your efforts on design, having a diverse set of skills on board makes it much easier for you to do the things you’re most passionate about.

Statistics have shown that when you delegate tasks to people who are more likely to get it done fast and swiftly while you focus your efforts on things that matter, your chances of achieving success will increase by a staggering 30 percent. A recent study by Inc. affirms this report, stating that 53 percent of business owners and entrepreneurs opined that they can grow their business, increasing revenue if only they could delegate about 10% of their entire workload to someone who could effectively carry them out.

What do these figures mean for founders?

You can build a million-dollar business startup from scratch just by focusing on the important things while getting a technical co-founder along the journey who’s going to be overseeing the developmental aspect of the business processes.

In this article, you will learn about seven effective ways in which chatbots can improve the effectiveness of your lead generation efforts.

7 Ways Chatbots Can Help Your Lead Generation Strategy

Chatbots Can Help Your Business with Lead Generation Efforts
Integrating chatbots in your marketing will not only attract new clients but can also nurture lead that can be converted to paying customers.

1. Grow Your List

Why would someone visit your business website? They are looking for some information. If you have already implemented a chatbot on your website, it can help you in many ways. For one, you can build a list of users who have visited your website. Some of your website visitors might ask some questions, chatbots can take care of that. In addition to this, it can also send reminder emails to prospects who have visited your website once and have never visited your website again.

2. Know Your Target Audience

Selling products and services can be tough especially if you are unaware of the preferences of your target audience. Create buyer personas and identify their needs and wants before marketing your products. The more you know and understand your target audience, the better you can target them with your marketing campaigns.

Chatbots can ask questions, conduct surveys, polls and quizzes to know what users like and dislike. Once you know what your customers are looking for, you can provide them that and delight them. Not only that, it can also help you segment your audience based on different factors such as interests, demographic, geographical location. This allows businesses to communicate the right message to right people at the right time.

3. Live Chat

According to the State of Chatbot report, 64% of users consider 24/7 service as the best feature of chatbot while 55% of users consider getting instant responses to their queries as the biggest benefit of chatbot. If you have ever visited a website with live chat feature enabled, you will be greeted with a few specific questions. The main purpose of asking these questions is to personalize the user experience and generate quality leads who are interested in your products. This also helps you nurture leads and build long term relationship with your website visitors.

4. Targeted Click To Messenger Ads

The best thing about click to target messenger ads is that you can use it to promote your content, products, services and offers to your email list. This allows you to reduce your cost per lead and capture the lead instantly too. What makes this click to messenger ads so effective is its ability to start a new conversation which is a big departure from traditional Facebook ads that only generate clicks and traffic to your website.

Moreover, it can also be used as a remarketing tool. This means that click to messenger ads can deliver exceptional results especially when you use it to attract your existing customers who have already engaged with your brand in some capacity before.

5.     Replaces Web Forms

You are getting thousands of visitors on your website each month but only a handful of them converts into paying customers. Why is it so? Even though there could be many reasons for this but one of the main reasons is lengthy web forms. No one likes to fill lengthy web forms which is why they abandon your form. You can prevent that by replacing web forms with chatbots and increase the number of leads you can generate.

Instead of filling out forms, a chatbot engaged the prospects in a conversation and asks a few specific questions along the way. This not only streamlines the whole process but also reduces friction. What’s more, the user also finds it even more convenient to share their information with a chatbot instead of filling out a lengthy website form. This makes chatbots an ideal choice for collecting user information such as name, email address and phone number.

6.     Content Delivery and Follow Up

Chatbot technology has matured drastically over the years. They are no longer limited to offering pre-programmed responses. Today, content delivery chatbots can help you humanize your brand by connecting with users in a natural way. Additionally, you can increase awareness by educating your target audience and can deliver value by pushing relevant content that your target audience would love to consume. Want to know how to use chatbots in your digital marketing? Take inspiration from these chatbot marketing examples from some of the biggest brands.

7.     Minimize Cart Abandonment

How many times have you abandoned a shopping cart? Irrespective of what your reason might be, you might have done it at least once. If you are an online business owner, that is exactly what you don’t want your shoppers to do. You can prevent shoppers from abandoning your cart but more importantly, you can attract customers who have already abandoned your cart by using chatbots.

If your website has a chatbot, it can ask users why they want to abandon your website and can provide a quick fix to a problem they are facing, which can prevent them from bouncing off your website. That is not all, you can also take feedback and remarket to those customers and let them know that you have fixed the problem so they can come back and complete the checkout process. This can drastically reduce your shopping cart abandonment rate and increase your sales.

Planning to integrate a chatbot into your digital marketing strategy will have a positive long term effect on your online business success going forward. If you are still contemplating on either to switch to using chatbots or not, there is no better time than now.

AI and UX: A Match Made in Heaven or Hell?

AI and UX are two key trends that are redefining the digital world.

Although they are used for different purposes, the aim of both entities is the same—to enhance user experience. Both are driven by predictive analytics.

Whereas UX enhances the user experience of a virtual product, such as web design, AI can execute tasks mainly associated with human intelligence, like decision making, visual perception, translating languages and speech recognition.

Both are important disciplines to enhance user experience and make technology more human.AI and UX_ A Match Made in Heaven or Hell_

What if AI is used in UX? The outcome will be amazing. Isn’t it?

For example, Netflix uses certain algorithms to create graphics, such as click-through thumbnails or movie posters for multi-devices. The online streaming giant has used thousands of video frames from an existing movie or show as a starting point for thumbnail creation. It annotates and ranks these images according to their highest likelihood of resulting in your click.

For example, people are more likely to click on a thumbnail with specific visual elements or characteristics of that genre or an image of their favorite actor.

Netflix might show you the flick Stranger Things in various thumbnails, from a huge gothic font, close up of individual actors, and mysterious scenes.

All these metrics are based on what other similar users have clicked on. It makes a recommendation of TV shows and movies based on the user’s history of watching.

One of the easiest ways to deploy an AI on your webpage design is a chatbot. It answers simple questions, arranges schedules and book meetings.

However, the combination of AI and UX hasn’t become that mainstream norm yet.

Because of the different industries these two things have, it’s usual to see UX designers and AI experts work in their separate zone even though they are working for enhancing user experience. After all, experts from both fields are not acquainted with each other tools and methods, making them unable to learn what can be achieved by combining AI with UX.

How Can AI Improve UX Design?

  • AI can track user experience with web design. For example, it can process info about site visitors, then applies or shows changes to the model to optimize it for future use.
  • Machine learning is useful to analyze various UX factors, such as device users, location of users, session time, session length, pages visited, bounce rates and exit pages. This way, these key metrics give a clear picture of user behavior with your design.
  • AI can also eliminate bias in testing or any subjective approaches to A/B testing. And it’s important to report impartial views on split testing. AI can play an important role here as it is based on cold hard data.
  • AI systems can also test multiple design variations and then produce alternatives. This can be useful in many stages of UX design, such as developing buttons on a webpage, or images in a mobile app.

How to Combine AI with UX

The vision of the product, concerns, and goals are required to be shared and understood by both teams. Therefore, a common language is required so that they can share their concepts.

UX designers and AI experts should team up to develop a common product blueprint that covers both interfaces and data pipelines. This co-created blueprint will be the foundation of product planning and decisions. Both experts have to work in the same space side-by-side.

Secondly, there is a need to focus on the user experience and business goal you are looking to achieve. For example, if you are developing a news app, the user experience designers and machine learning experts should together create and design the actual use flow of the app. This lets the whole team identify the key points where AI could improve user experience and vice versa. Solid designs, including suggestions from data engineers, data scientists, and designers can help set realistic expectations and goals for the iteration of the product.

The next step is to combine qualitative and quantitative data. To determine the effects of the partnership of UX design and machine learning, both qualitative and quantitative data are essential. Qualitative research can include questionnaires, user testing, and user interviews to determine the user experience with your product. Qualitative data helps determine how users think and feel and quantitative data shows how people behave with the product.

Bottom Line:

AI is the right partner for UX as it enhances the basic norm of the latter—to improve user experience. It is all about making the design simpler, easier and convenient.

Again, AI and UX are two worlds apart with different methodologies, environments, skill sets and tools. So, as I have told you earlier, common language, co-created blueprint and data is required to make the perfect combination of AI and UX.

6 Convincing Reasons You Need Professionals for a Spotless App Localization

Whether you are only building your app for global distribution or just looking for ways to appeal to an international audience post-launch, a spotless app localization can help you achieve those goals. According to Alconost post, 75% of the world’s populations will never be able to use English-only apps due to language barriers, while an objective growth in revenue of 26% has been reported by app developers who chose to localize their services. A similar study done by Upwork indicates that 56.2% of consumers prefer receiving information in their own language, with 42% stating that they never bought or used products and services without the support for their own language.

Whether it’s French, German, Italian or Spanish, localizing your app into these and other languages can be highly beneficial not only for your income as a business but also your subsequent exposure and brand value just to name a few. With that said, let’s dive into several convincing reasons why you should hire a professional and invest in spotless app localization.

Quality Content Precedes App Localization

Before we dive into the localization and its plethora of advantages, it’s worth noting that quality content should always come first. Your app’s UI, FAQ and general quality of life features such as pop-up messages or email notifications should all be written in a professional and cohesive manner.

Providing your professional translator with a well-established content will make the translation much easier, faster and most importantly, more useful to the end-user. That being said, here are several writing platforms that can be utilized for effective content creation in your native language prior to any translation taking place.

  • Evernote – a cloud-based text editing and formatting platform, useful for not only content creation but also rudimentary management and organizational tasks
  • WoWGrade – an outsourcing writing platform designed with the intent to provide you with high-quality content in a plethora of written formats
  • Grammarly – a spellchecking and proofreading service which can be utilized in conjunction with another platform to ensure that your written content is free of grammar errors
  • GrabMyEssay – a dedicated blog, essay and general online content writing platform perfectly suited for creating long-form written materials for your marketing and website needs
  • Hemingway – a legibility and text-flow editing platform suitable for creating content meant for app UI and GUI elements due to its ability to improve the readability of your text

1. DIY Leads to Mistakes

Whether your native language is Chinese, Greek, Russian or Italian, chances are that you are not familiar with three or more world languages to a sufficient extent. While wanting to minimize localization costs is a logical train of thought, it can lead to numerous mistakes and omissions on your part.

Translating your app’s content in a mechanical way without knowledge of each language’s cultural background, lingo and flow of writing will make it seem artificial and uninviting. This can lead not only to lesser sales and revenue but also to serious loss of brand authority in your industry. If you want to make the most of the impacts with your app and push it into a global marketplace with significant success right from the onset, professional app localization is the best way to do so.

2. Higher Revenue and Exposure

The more people hear about your brand, the better your revenue stream will become over time. This cannot be overstated when it comes to app localization as it can significantly impact your appeal in the eyes of casual users and those with no knowledge of the English language.

Higher exposure in the case of a published app will unquestionably lead to more downloads, more in-app or product purchases, as well as a higher profit margin for your business along the way. The newly-acquired revenue can then be invested in further app development, localization efforts, content marketing and other areas in which your app can grow and improve over time.

3. Multicultural Marketing Approach

Building a multicultural brand for your app is one of the advantages app localization will bring to the table. Michael Grady, Head of Content Marketing at Trust My Paper spoke on the topic recently: “The best way to build a cohesive community around your project is to simply invite more people to use it through translation and localization. To go a step further, you can even hire people of different lingual backgrounds to work in your company and actively contribute to the project on an ongoing basis, further cementing your multicultural business model going forward.”

By integrating different languages into your app, you will effectively invite people of different cultures, skin colors, beliefs, and religions to enjoy your app and share experiences with one another. In the age of social media and online communities, this approach to brand building can be highly effective at painting a positive picture of your business to the whole world.

4. Building a Global User Base

One of the simplest and most important ways in which professional app localization will help your cause is by ensuring that more people use the app itself. A global audience will always have more growth and development potential than a localized one, ensuring that your brand gets exposure and public awareness along the way.

Your global audience can also help in further app development by pitching different ideas, feedback, and comments which will naturally come from vastly different backgrounds and preferences. This will give you invaluable data for further updates, localization efforts and brand loyalty marketing efforts, growing your global user base as a result.

5. Becoming a Competitive Brand

For better or worse, your app will always compete for dominance on the market within your industry. However, adding localized UI and UX options for your users’ convenience will ensure that you have a competitive edge against other brands on the market.

Justin Lynch, UX Specialist at Studicus spoke greatly on the matter: “Any added feature or option you provide your users with compared to other products on the market will effectively put you on the pedestal in their eyes. Thus, quality of life features such as language selection will ensure that competitors think twice about how to compete with your position on the market you both operate in.”

6. Your App’s Longevity on the Market

In the age of high-speed internet and flow of information, becoming obsolete is a matter of when not if. As such, localized applications with higher levels of user appeal and utility will undoubtedly outlive their competition.

Localizing your app and retrofitting it for a global market will ensure that your code is used for longer than it would be otherwise. Longevity will provide you with passive income and the ability to stay in touch with modern trends for far longer simply because you chose to build an international audience rather than a smaller, localized one.

Playing the Long Game (Conclusion)

The best justification you could find for professional app localization is to simply put yourself in the shoes of your users. People with no academic education or those who are elderly or too young to become bilingual will be immensely appreciative of your initiative to make the app available to them.

This can lead to organic word of mouth spreading around the world, positive brand advocacy and user loyalty which couldn’t be achieved with any form of traditional marketing. Discover which languages are the most sought after in your industry and start adapting your app for localization today in order to reap its benefits tomorrow.

Remember once again that, a spotless app localization helps you reach a wide audience. It is what you need if you want to appeal to a global audience in your business.

Understanding Your Options During Product Development

Product development is a complex and risky endeavor. Yet you must come up with new and better products in order to remain in business because you’re in an ongoing race with everyone else on the market and newcomers you may not know are about to revolutionize the industry. Let’s learn more about your options regarding product development.

Product Development Basics: Getting to know your options

Understanding Product Development
For a company to stay ahead of emerging technological disruptions, there’s a need for an effective product development unit and there are certain steps to follow in putting this in place.

In-House Design and Production

This is the traditional method of product development. This is understandable given that you have complete control over the intellectual property, the schedule, and the budget. The problem is that few companies are skilled in the development side of research and development. They’re often limited to the manufacturing methods they have in-house to come up with a way to make their new product, though more efficient or advanced manufacturing methods may exist. A classic case would be designing a frame that is machined in your machine shop when 3D printing would be cheaper and faster. You’re also absorbing the cost of development and initial production runs, when the process may be faster and cheaper if you outsourced it to someone else.

In-House Design and Contracted Manufacturing

A growing number of companies are becoming intellectual property firms instead of manufacturers. They’ll design the electronics that form the core of their new line of electronics and hire a contract manufacturer to build it in volume. They may design and build the prototypes themselves, or they may outsource the prototyping to a third organization. Prototyping houses offer lower costs than dedicating your engineering team to coming up with circuit boards and protective housing for a new speaker.

In-House Initial Design with Contracted Partners

In this business model, your team is coming up with rough ideas for a product. Then you hire experts that can create a variety of prototypes. Each prototype can be tested for compliance with various industry standards, and you can have investors and consumer panels review it, as well. Select a prototype based on form, function, performance and estimated production cost. You could then move from prototype to end product by either hiring the prototyping firm to create the first few hundred units for sale or getting design information from them to be followed by contract manufacturers. Conversely, you could also use that same information yourself to build the final prototype in-house, assuming you have the parts and the capability.

Note that contracted partners could make any or all of the components in your new product. For example, you could have them assemble the complex printed circuit board to which you attach off-the-shelf and internally made components. This can often save you a lot of money because they’re able to offer PCBs at economies of scale well beyond what you’d make in house. They may make millions of PCBs a year whereas you only need 50,000.

Tips for Finding the Right Contract Manufacturer

What factors should you use to select a contract manufacturer? The first would be the location. If they’re located too far from your firm, it may take weeks to send a prototype to you to test and approve. And the prototyping and early production stage are when time is of the essence. The second is the capability. Do they have experience making the type of components you want to be produced? You don’t ask a machine shop to make PCBs. And you shouldn’t ask someone who typically makes small, thin PCBs to create a thick, complex board. It is outside their expertise and will come at a higher cost than a company that makes those items regularly will charge. A third factor would be engineering experience and resources. Can you just give them a drawing with the dimensions of the PCB and a rough outline of the design and they come up with a working prototype? Can they give you a polished set of work instructions and affordable parts list? However, you don’t want to work with a firm that tells you they’re the only source of your critical parts.
