How Can Credit Union Help You During the Coronavirus Pandemic?

Banks Oregon goes a long way back. Some historians believe that the first banking institutions originated in ancient Egypt. Although not that old, the idea of an Oregon Credit union does have some history behind it. Both financial institutions have had their ups and downs over the decades and both have garnished a fair share of fans and naysayers. The real test for both types of institutions is during times like the Coronavirus pandemic when people need financial support and security more than ever. Although both institutions claim to be on the same side and want to help people, the way they handle it will make or break most of them.

Is an Oregon Credit Union Safer Than Any Other Financial Aid Institution?

A credit unions’ primary function is to help those in need of financial aid that prefer not to deal with a bank. These are usually people with bad credit or who have low incomes and can’t really afford the fees and charges a bank asks. Also, credit unions traditionally have been known to be set up in areas with blue-collar population. That means that they are accustomed to dealing with small loans, both for people and for businesses. But that doesn’t mean that a credit union can’t do what a bank does. In fact, credit unions have been known to be able to help people much better than banks could. That’s because they are founded by the people from a specific community and understand their particular needs.

Oregon credit union

During these troubling times lots of small businesses have been going through some major changes. Some had to shut down permanently, leaving employees without a source of income, while others had to downsize in order to hopefully weather this pandemic. This is where an Oregon credit union usually comes into the picture. But before rushing to the nearest office, many people asked themselves if a credit union is really better than any other financial institution. Well, judging by the number of people going in to take out loans, either personal or for their businesses, the answer is yes. Being smaller than a bank doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t have as many assets as one. Some credit unions have tens of thousands of members, which adds up to some serious resources. The biggest credit unions in the country have billions worth of assets, and can provide financial support to just as many people as a bank can.

Secondly, credit unions are created and owned by the people themselves. That means that when someone decides to join a credit union they effectively become a shareholder and even get a vote when it comes to choosing important stuff like expansion models or who’s in charge. But that also means that a credit union is more transparent than a bank. Banks tend to keep their private business exactly that way – private. When you deposit your money with a bank, although you can technically go in and take them out any time you like, and even get a letter from time to time telling you how your money is doing, you don’t really know what the bank does with them. Credit unions don’t function like that. Because they are made up of people, usually from a very well defined location, you can always know what the union is doing with your money because they have to ask you if you are ok with it. So that means that they are more transparent than a bank which leads more people to trust credit unions and to want to do business with them.

What Does It Take to Set Up an Oregon Credit Union?

Well, as the name clearly states, you firstly have to be in Oregon to do so. But considering that that is not an issue, setting up a credit union is quite simple. The important thing to do is to find enough people that need financial aid and are also OK with pulling together their resources in order to help others. Credit unions historically started in communities built around factories, parishes and even college campuses. There is no rule that says how many members it should have or how much money should everyone give at first. The important thing is to bring together a group of people that want to help and have the resources to do so.

The second thing you have to think of when building your credit union is expansion. Granted, credit unions don’t have the same reach as a multi-national banking conglomerate, but can reach some serious proportions. Expanding a credit union is usually a slow process, and can take several years. So don’t expect overnight nation-wide reach. Also, because credit unions aren’t created in order to make a profit, like banks are, you won’t have the same money at your disposal in order to buy or rent lavish offices and give out big quarterly bonuses. But expansion is possible. Mainly when other people from other areas want to join your credit union. This is how you grow. When expanding from one area to another you will have to make sure that you have an office so people can reach you and also you can consider signing contracts with various third parties, such as ATM networks and credit card issuers.

What Do Banks Oregon Fail to Understand When It Comes to People Needing Help During the Pandemic?

Banks Oregon have been around for centuries. You’d think that they’ve seen enough in order to understand how people work, especially in critical times such as these. But there are still some things that banks don’t really get about people. Firstly, banks have to understand that, unlike credit unions or even other financial aid institutions, people don’t come to them because they enjoy doing business with them. People usually choose banks because they think that being part of a bigger family or group of companies means that they have a lower chance of failing. Technically this is true, but history taught everyone that this is not necessarily what happens. When banks, especially branch-banks, fall on hard times they usually call in their loans and investments and fold it in. That means that their main objective is to protect their mother-company, not necessarily their clients.

Secondly, people choose banks to do business with because they have no other options. Banks Oregon can be found on all inhabited continents of the world. That means that people have their share of options when it comes to choosing which banks to do business with. But not all banks understand that people need to see more in them than just a faceless, profit-driven, institution. Some are addressing this problem while others aren’t. People need to be understood and empathized with. Although it may not seem so from a banks’ perspective but they each have unique problems and concerns. Granted, banks aren’t psychiatric offices, but in order to make clients trust you, you have to try and put yourself in their shoes and live what and how they are living.

Business Marketing

How the Right Store Name Can Drive Your Sales

A tremendous number of factors combine to influence how people influence your business. However, the organization’s name remains one of the characteristics that can encourage people to choose your business and remember it for their future needs.

Business Name - How the Right Store Name Can Drive Your Sales
If you’ve been thinking of solving the puzzle of closing more sales and getting a better traction of the market share in your business field, you needn’t to worry because you have the answer here. With the help of a business name generator, your startup company name could generate lots of sales with a well-designed landing page that stands out.

Catchy, Relevant Names Are Memorable

You may initially think it’s difficult to come up with the most appropriate name for an enterprise. However, achieving that goal is much easier than you might think. One of the most straightforward and effective ways is to use a store name generator to facilitate the creative process. For example, Namify is a tool that suggests names after you input two keywords associated with your business and a category that matches it.

Using that technology could help you avoid choosing a name that’s either too similar to companies that already exist or too difficult to remember. You also want to pick a name that helps people understand what type of business you have. For example, the name Pet Express sets expectations for potential customers and sticks in their memories.

Moreover, if individuals like your business and can remember its name, they’ll be more likely to recommend it to friends and family members. You want to avoid a situation where someone says to a colleague, “I found a great pet store last week with a huge selection of dog supplies that would be great for your new puppy. However, I can’t remember the name right now! I’ll get back to you when I do.”

A great business name stands the test of time. It can also differentiate your organization in the marketplace, making more customers choose your company over other options. The name doesn’t make up for the need to do things like treating your customers well and having a pleasing selection of merchandise, but it helps set a strong foundation.

The Name Can Help Urge People To Act

Your company’s name could be instrumental in creating more brand awareness in the marketplace. If your business name is one that people quickly come to know and remember, they’ll be more likely to have your company in a top-of-mind position.

You can also use the company name as a featured aspect of other marketing content. For example, if you’re creating a landing page for your business, having a call-to-action link increases the chances that visitors engage in the desired behaviors. Statistics show that landing pages with one main call-to-action have conversion rates of 13.5%, higher than pages with five calls to action statements or links.

Featuring your company name on a landing page can get people in the mood to take further action. If they see it and quickly think, “Oh, I know that company,” they’ll be in a better frame of mind to make a purchase or otherwise take the action you want.

Numerous suggested best practices exist for helping you find new customers and increase sales. Many center on knowing who your audience is and what they want. Those are undoubtedly good starting points. However, you also want to try and determine what your business name calls to mind for people. If you haven’t picked a name yet, using a name generator and getting people’s input on several possibilities could help you narrow them down.

It should now be clear why a business name can help cause a lasting success for your business. If you have trouble choosing one, name generator tools can put you on the right track.

With a well-crafted landing page coupled with an attractive company name, you can rest assured of a successful career as an entrepreneur.

ISN Hosts Funders driving Inclusivity through Gender Lens Investing

Innovation Support Network Hosts Funders driving Inclusivity through Gender Lens Investing

As part of a series of activities scheduled to celebrate International Women’s Month, Innovation Support Network would be hosting a Meet the Funders session specifically targeted at promoting Gender Lens Investing. Gender Lens Investing factors financial results as well as gender-based benefits into investment decisions for a variety of reasons including reducing risk on returns, reducing gender economic and funding gaps, as well as creating more inclusive products and services.

Investing in women-led businesses is generally good business – a study of firms with more women in senior positions showed that they achieved significantly higher returns and that gender-diverse boards usually created more long-term value for organizations including less stock price volatility. In Nigeria, funding firms like Alitheia Capital, Rising Tide Network, and the Lagos Angel Network have all developed extensive Gender Lens investing theses to achieve financial returns while also actively catalyzing women-owned businesses with much-needed capital and support thereby increasing socio-economic and financial benefits.

To reduce the access gap between startups and funders, Innovation Support Network (ISN Hubs), an organisation focused on creating linkages with corporates, development partners, academia and government to holistically support Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem, has curated a series of sessions called Meet the Funders. These sessions enable funders to share their investment theses with startups, thereby providing clarity on requirements for engagement. Tech Pathway – What Does The Future Hold For IT Experts?

The field of information technology has seen several exciting developments in these past years in both research and real-time application. However, even with all the accomplishments and rapid ascent, a sense of uncertainty remains. The risk identified due to the development of digital technology and cyberspace presents a challenge to decision-makers. The uncertainty influences stakeholders in the private sector and billions of users who depend on IT for daily use.

The real obstacles that keep IT from progressing are the soiled approaches and lack of knowledge by decision-makers, both at national and international levels. The provocative question in mind is about the future of information technology in the coming years. IT’s landscape promises to bring us surprises with lots of new developments for industries including healthcare, production, manufacturing, e-Commerce, etc. We will try to shed some light on the future of IT and trends that might pave the way for its progress and advancement.

AI Moving Beyond Deep Learning

Artificial Intelligence and deep learning have always been at the center stage of technological innovations. Deep learning has become a successful principle when it comes to problem-solving and critical analysis of large data sets. This technology has given us unique features like facial and handwriting recognition, language translation, and others.

However, the presence of massive amounts of data in the real world can be a problem in terms of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and DL (Deep Learning). For instance, AI can work with industrial data and predict possible events to safeguard an organizational asset. The problem with AI is that the available data sets cannot match the amount needed to document such expensive failures.

Data scientists have to develop solutions related to small amounts of data and still make the algorithm work. IT experts in this regard can come with ways that are based on different aspects of deep learning. In the near future, experts with online MBA information technology or similar principle can design application that addresses techniques other than deep learning. IT experts can explore different areas other than deep learning, including reinforcement learning, transfer learning, or genetic/evolutionary algorithms. The employment of sophisticated, custom algorithms capable of building powerful networks is a future expectation for AI experts.

Automation and Data Security

Automation is a prevailing aspect of the future in IT that aims to reduce physical work and improve operational efficiency. Data sciences are the critical sphere that can benefit most from automation. Combined with artificial intelligence and machine learning features, IT experts can use automation to make better decisions based on data analysis. Researchers predict that automation will replace almost half the world’s workforce in the near future.

In terms of security, future information technology emphasizes data security and is the spotlight of attention. Among the most significant future trends for IT experts, keeping customer and business data secured will become a primary concern. Companies and businesses need a new way to secure data without huge investments that IT experts will willingly provide.

Big Data and Software Architecture

Another future trend for IT experts is software and application architecture based on big data. Big data analysis uncovers hidden patterns, provides correlations and valuable insights for experts to consider. As the world turns from monolithic to the microservice application, big data plays its association with them.

Companies and businesses will rely on applications designed through big data analysis to explore new opportunities. Notably, big data analytics can reduce operational costs to make better decisions and fulfill customer demands. Further, big data insights can give designers a means to develop applications that will address the demands with pinpoint accuracy.

IT Governance Will Become Business Governance

In many organizations today, IT has made its way into decision-making and process implementation. Critical strategies, business structure, investments, change programs, risk, and sourcing will become a part of IT infrastructure in the future. With time, organizations will realize that they need to coordinate all the decisions outside and above IT. In short, the future will see that having a streamlined IT infrastructure means better governance and business management.

Internet of Things

The Internet of Things (IoT) is among the newest trends that will undoubtedly shape the future of information technology. IoT is the network of devices interconnected with each other to collect and process data. Potential future implementations of IoT include various industries such as drone delivery, smart homes, virtual security assistants, smart cars, etc. Top companies seek ways to develop self-driving vehicles that know the routes and daily activities.

Virtual Environments

Blockchain Technology

Blockchain is a technology that stores data and information in consequent sets called blocks. These blocks have encryptions and security with a feature called cryptography. The popularity of blockchain started with the emergence of cryptocurrency. Cryptocurrency will replace physical currency in the near future and hold value the same as that of stocks.

Even if not used for a monetary purpose, blockchain will prove viable to store sensitive information securely. An example of this is medical records, financial statements, luxury products from counterfeiting, etc. IT experts have started to learn blockchain technology to keep themselves updated for the future implementation of technology.

3D Printing

3D printing is an emerging technology that shows promising results for the future of business applications. 3D printing can give us a potential solution for ordinary people’s problems and provide higher product personalization in the future. A simple 3D printer will allow us to manufacture things thought impossible in the past. What seemed imaginable only in specialized facilities is now possible almost everywhere. The most prominent use of 3D printing is to develop prosthetic limbs and body support supplies.

Besides, 3D printing will replace manufacturing to develop chap and sturdy products in the future. Similar to the blockchain, 3D printing is a technology that needs specialized training, which the It experts need to learn.

With the continual growth of some of the innovative and disruption technologies such as deep learning mechanism, 3D printing, and many others, it prompts me to ask; what does the future looks like for IT experts?

Apple’s facial recognition could unlock the device even when wearing a mask

As the pandemic presses on, wearing a face mask has become a way of life. We are no longer able to enter supermarkets and transport without wearing one. For a whole year now, the pandemic has changed life as we once knew it, and so, new developments have to be made to help overcome these new and challenging obstacles we are facing.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, and now understanding the nature of the virus, face coverings have been strongly advanced for the whole world. Since it’s a global issue, the supply and demand for face masks have risen to new heights.

The graph below paints a vivid picture of how quickly and intensely the demands for masks have risen, comparing figures from 2019 to 2020.

U.S. disposable face mask market size, by product, 2016-2027 (USD in Million)
U.S. disposable face mask market size, by product, 2016-2027 (USD in Million)

Along with the number of masks in circulation, we have also been faced with some other difficulties that come from wearing face masks. For example, we are no longer able to use technology like facial recognition on our smartphones as they cannot detect our facial features.

However, Apple’s next update to its iOS operating system will allow users to use their faces to unlock their devices while wearing a mask. However, there is a caveat.

Currently, users who like to use Face ID with a mask on are asked to type in their passcode for added security as the software can not pick up the whole face. This can be annoying, especially when you need to quickly access information on your device.

However, with the latest update AND Apple’s most recent smartwatch, users will be able to use the smartwatch as an added level of security to help unlock their phones while wearing a mask. The beta version of this update is being rolled out slowly. The update will unlock only the handset and activate useful apps such as Apple Pay.

As we advance, there could be some other avenues that Face ID can look into, including functionalities such as iris scanners that take note of characteristics of the iris and unlock the phone. Although this may seem far-fetched, we are now close to automotive cars, so anything is possible. Samsung did have a dig at using this technology in their Galaxy S8 handset in 2017; however, a hacker proved the software to be unsuccessful by unlocking the handset with a printout of an iris.

Issues with wearing masks

Although they help reduce the spread of the virus, there are some side effects to wearing masks that we may not have considered. There are some apparent causes such as feeling uncomfortable and irritation, as well as fogging up glasses which prevent people from wearing them as indicated in the graph below. However, there are genuine drawbacks to wearing face masks for some.

For those who are partially deaf, lip-reading was a way of life. Before the pandemic, they were able to read lips and understand what was being said in conversations. Unfortunately, as many are now wearing face masks, it is increasingly difficult for them to understand what is being said.

Much effort is being made to produce masks with clear visors on them, which show the lower portion of faces to help individuals with hearing impairments. However, they have not been made official or even widely available, which means the issue still stands.

Wearing face masks also has a broader effect on communication as a whole. Many can not hear when someone is talking through a mask. They also make reading facial expressions very hard, creating problems and misunderstandings. This is true for children, and especially in school settings, younger children use facial expressions to help them understand right from wrong. Covering large portions of faces means they cannot distinguish between their actions thoroughly.

Phycologists have claimed that as humans, we tend to process whole faces rather than focusing on individual features, and so, an expression is a way of communicating emotions and feelings. which is something the pandemic is making difficult

Considering all the factors, although we understand that face masks are essential in helping the current challenges, they will soon impact communication. At this moment in time, we have no idea the duration of time we will have to wear masks. But the pandemic could have caused deeper scars on us where we may feel, from now on, we can’t even imagine a life without wearing them in public For this reason, new technology, and masks designs will have to be implemented to help tackle and deal with the issues we are facing today.

As far as wearing face mask is concerned, it’s not so easy, but Apple’s facial recognition could unlock device even when wearing a mask.

How Has Tech Disrupted the Way We Attend Music Festivals?

It’s no secret that technology has had a significant impact on our daily lives, from how we capture and share material on the internet to how we connect with friends and family on the other side of the globe.

With the rise in popularity of social media and mobile phones, it was only a matter of time until technology influenced how millennials perceive music festivals – for better or worse. We’ve looked at how technology has influenced our festival behavior and experience in this post…

Festival life is made easy by technology.

Nowadays, there’s an app for everything. There are a variety of strange and amazing apps on the market that try to make your life a little bit easier, from tuning your guitar with your phone to controlling your TV with your phone. And when it comes to festivals, there are a number of excellent apps that may help you make the most of your time there. The Tent Finder app, for example, which does exactly what it says on the tin – locates your tent in a sea of thousands – has been a smash hit with festival-goers who find it difficult to move their tent after a long day of partying. The clever-working program records the location of your tent on your phone’s map utilizing technology that lets you mark locations using GPS, so you can find it quickly come midnight.

Technology may be used to keep you safe.

It’s incredibly easy to interact with your friends and family using apps like Whatsapp, Snapchat, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger to let them know where you are and if you’re safe. While music festivals and concerts are undoubtedly enjoyable, they can also be frightening if you become disoriented or separated from your friends in a vast crowd. However, if this occurs, you will be able to immediately message your friends to let them know where you are. As a result, technology serves as a fantastic safety net in this regard.

Plus, while bombings like the one at Ariana Grande’s Manchester performance are rare, knowing that you can contact your loved ones or the emergency services with the touch of a button is always reassuring.

There’s no need to bring a purse with you.

Festival Goers no longer need to carry cash around with them thanks to the advent of contactless payment systems and Apple Pay. A bank card or smartphone will suffice. These contactless payment methods also mean you’re less likely to forget cash and don’t have to queue in exorbitantly lengthy lines for the cash point, which is a benefit.

It is less difficult to plan travel plans.

Transportation technology apps such as Uber have revolutionized how we get to and from events. Instead of taking a long bus ride from the other side of the country to get to the festival, you can now hail an Uber carpool and pick up your pals en route for a more convenient journey.

Pill testing is now available at festivals as well.

The strongest case for drug testing at festivals is that it may save lives. Second, it may offer a means of eliciting behavioral and attitude changes that are resistant to other, more punishing approaches. Furthermore, testing or the availability of MDMA testing kits appears to instill caution, which is usually a positive thing when it comes to illicit drug use.

Disadvantages of Technology on Music Festivals

We’re concerned that our phones will run out of power.

Once the smartphone culture has taught us anything, it’s that if our phone runs out of battery, our lives are over, and this is especially true when you’re in the middle of a music festival. The fear of your phone dying is very real, and while innovations such as pop-up charging stations have been introduced at festivals, they frequently come with drawbacks such as long wait periods and high prices.

We don’t live in the present; we live on social media.

Our obsession with uploading content to social media to create the appearance of a ‘perfect’ life has had a significant impact on how we attend music festivals, thanks to technological advancements. We’re getting more tempted to take the ideal Instagram image or Snapchat video, to prove to our pals that we’re having a bloody good time, rather than living in the moment and absorbing the vibe at the festival like we once did. Instead of seeing festivals through our own eyes, we now see them through the eyes of our cameras. And musicians are aware of this: in the past, acts such as Mumford & Sons have recommended cell phone bans during concerts in the name of a digital detox, albeit these measures are very harsh.

Finding internet hotspots is something we’re obsessed with.

Apart from bad weather and terrible sleeping arrangements, most of my friends have complained about the absence of internet connectivity at festivals as the number one concern, as we can personally attest. Is this it, guys? Is this the end of the world? Can’t we go a day without being linked to the internet?

We’re always on the lookout for free WiFi and 4G hotspots at festivals, thanks to our pathological addiction with posting to social media. According to a 2014 survey by Eventbrite, “nearly x out of every four posts about music festivals originated from people participating remotely via live streams or other types of involvement, while 17 percent of discussions took place during festivals.” We spend a lot of time live-streaming or Tweeting about our festival experience while we’re actually experiencing it, as the preceding point suggests, and this, of course, necessitates our being connected to the internet. It’s as if it’s our lifeline, and we can’t rest until we’ve clung to it.

Your Website Needs to be Optimized for Mobile

  • 70% of mobile internet users feel that a call button is critical
  • 71% of users believe that a mobile site should load as fast or even faster than a desktop site
  • 93% of websites for small businesses are not optimized for mobile

With so many people searching for things on the go and the mobile experience becoming much more convenient, it’s more important than ever to have an entirely mobile-friendly website. Without knowing exactly how to create a mobile website, it can feel daunting, which is why the help of a professional SEO company, can be so valuable.

If you have a website that only has a desktop version, it’s time to drop what you’re doing (Well, maybe gently place down) and get started!

Why Mobile Optimization is Important

Did you know that about 93% of potential customers who research their mobile devices will end up completing a purchase? A vast number of people will use their smart phones for research more often than a desktop computer, so only catering to desktop users has become a thing of the past.

When creating a website, mobile should always be on your mind with every design decision. How will it translate to the other version? Does it stay consistent? What needs to be simplified? These are all questions you should be asking yourself during the design process.

Tips for Better Mobile Optimization

A lot goes into creating a successful mobile version of a website, but let’s take a closer look at some hand-picked digital marketing tips that should be very useful.

Keep Things Simple

You never want too much clutter on your website in the first place, but desktop versions allow for a little more space to play around with for fun designs and unique ideas. This freedom is not a luxury you’ll have with the mobile version.

The design will need to be much more simplified since the user isn’t looking for the entire grand experience. They’re most likely there to find something quickly on their small, but convenient screen.

Speaking of a small screen, you might also want to consider making the text larger and easier to read. The user’s eyes will thank you.

Does it Match the Desktop Version?

Just because your mobile version will be different from the full experience, that doesn’t mean it should look like they’re not associated with each other. The two mediums should have the same visual flair, with mobile users merely having simplified navigation.

Beware of Pop-Ups

Pop-ups can be an excellent tool for driving a user in a specific direction and are often recommended by digital marketing companies. They can be placed anywhere on your site and will guarantee the message you want to be noticed is seen.

While these are very useful, they can be a nightmare on websites that aren’t optimized for mobile. Issues could include their difficulty in closing out or taking up too much of the screen, making the user pinch, zoom in, and zoom out to get past them.

In recent years, Google even made this punishable by lowering your website’s search engine ranking. If you’re worried about maintaining good SEO (and you should be), resizing and optimizing your pop-ups for mobile is crucial.

Does it Load Quickly?

Let’s face it. We’ve all given up on a website that’s taken too long to load, even though it’ll probably only take a few more seconds. We’re impatient when we’re online, so websites that take more than three seconds to load are typically seen as too slow.

While you may have this squared away on your desktop site, it will take longer to load that version on mobile devices. By using fewer animations and plugins, plus smaller images, you can increase that loading speed to something much more convenient.

Should You Create an App?

Many websites have chosen to have apps that act as a companion for their website. Having an app can make you stand out from the crowd of competition, but you need to consider two crucial things.

Is the App Helpful?

Don’t just make an app to make an app. It needs to add some extra value or convenience for the consumer. What problem does your app help the user solve?

Solving problem is directly proportionate to having a successful mobile optimized app. The mobile version of your business should offer convenience and an everlasting experience to the user.

Don’t Ignore the Mobile Site

Apps can be great, but the mobile-optimized website should be your priority. You’ll be getting more traffic on an internet browser than an app you have to download.

Google’s Mobile-Friendly Test

Suppose you are looking to find out if your optimized website performs well, or you’d like to see how your desktop version loads on mobile. Google has a handy tool that can tell you. All you have to do is type in the website’s URL into the mobile-friendly test, and it will let you know if the site is ready to go or needs some work. It even gives suggestions on how to improve!

Looking to Improve Your Online Presence with a Professional SEO Company?

Leaving your website without a mobile option can hurt the user experience, which is the exact opposite of what you should be striving to do. Even if you conclude that mobile optimization is necessary for your website, doing something about it without a digital marketing agency can be difficult, which is why a professional SEO company can help you fix that.

Why make things harder for yourself? Having professionals with a lot of experience by your side can make all the difference.
