How does Blow Moulding Works?

How stuff works: Blow Moulding

Many of us don’t know the diverse ways through which blow moulding can be developed. All you must remember is that you need a hollowed out plastic you can use to a new blow mould. There are generally many groups of processing that really needs to be used within the creation on the mold. One of these processes which might be being applied is in which of thermoplastic that enables you to produce unique variations of hollow supplies.

It provides three key types namely the extrusion, stretch blow moldings and hypodermic injection. The entire process can be started by individuals with the help of a small piece of plastic having holes. These holes should be used in order to help within the flow connected with air through.

How blow moulding works.

There are many types of methods you can use in making sure you create the proper types connected with hollow dishes. There happens to be many types of changes that have been propagated everywhere recently along with such; it has developed into a much faster process. There have also been many unique variations of technologies which might be very instrumental in ensuring that such a new blow moulding technology can be achieved much faster.

One of the most common uses of such blow moulding can be that connected with Co-extrusion blow molding. This is one of the main techniques of blow moulding that is used within the production of unique variations of small bottles and also other industrial pots.

Considering the fact today there are many who are conservative around the utilization of such a recycling strategy, it is vital to be sure that blow moulding can be achieved through such a technology.

Another quite normal form connected with blow moulding would be the three dimensional blow moulding which actually originated from Japan and can be utilized in the production of countless different plastic-type materials which might be of different sizes along with shapes.

Blow moulding involves the control of plastic-type material pellets via a heated prop and barrel or clip to warm the plastic with a molten condition. The prop and barrel is comparable to an auger arrangement where the material can be pushed forward while the screw can rotate.

The molten stuff exits throughout the end on the screw along with barrel via a diehead, which designs the plastic in a cylindrical tv shape, which is sometimes called a parison. If the parison can be long sufficient, a mould with a pair of separate halves can be moved directly into position along with closed about the parison. Some sort of knife then cuts the parison, and the mould can be moved to encourage the parison to stay extruding for your next unit cycle.

A blowpin then enters the neck or perhaps opening within the mould which produces the parison towards shape on the mould using compressed atmosphere, and the plastic is allowed to cool resistant to the mould surface. While the plastic solution is formed and allowed to cool, the following parison can be processed throughout the screw along with barrel, ready for your next cycle to commence. The tool then opens, and ejects the finished moulding.

The complete cycle time taken to manufacture a new plastic solution from blow moulding will depend on several different facets such since wall thickness on the plastic, and all round size on the component getting moulded.

A trip down memory lane with cameras

Looking back I remember the very first camera I ever used, it was one of the old Fuji disposable ones. I wasn’t allowed to have my own camera until I was about 12 years old. Back in the 80s we weren’t allowed to have things like this because they might get broken or our parents didn’t think we needed them. When I was 12 and finally able to have a camera I was given a Polaroid that I treasured like a gold medal. At that time, this was considered an extremely impressive piece of technology, as it would instantaneously print pictures on the spot, although over time the quality of the prints deteriorated of course. Nowadays, not many of the kids today could even tell you what a Polaroid is – I know mine can’t! The other day I asked my son what a Polaroid was and he looked as though I had five heads.Polariod camera

Throughout the years cameras have grown so much from my old disposable Fuji and Polaroid to the digital age. Today you couldn’t think of a day without a camera whether it might be your new Nikon or Cannon. Or at least you probably have a camera on your smartphone. Could you imagine logging onto your Facebook account and there were no photos due to life without a camera? All those precious memories of time spent with family and friends that we are grateful for but often take for granted.Modern cameras

We can see this reliance on cameras in other parts of daily life. In fact everywhere you look you can see a camera – stop lights, tollbooths, cell phones, computers, elevators and so on. Even vehicles have them now! I was test-driving a new mini van recently and it had a backup camera that automatically stops the vehicle if something is in the way when reversing. No doubt that everyone would agree this is pretty impressive technology.Phone cameras

Whether you are a professional photographer doing just another photo shoot or a small child taking a picture of your favourite doll you will have powerful tools at your disposal. With so many apps and programs out there one can even add some very artistic effects and manipulate their images to give any desired effect they wish. The other day I took an old photo from when I was little that was taken on a regular old point and shoot camera and fixed the grainy quality to give a more high definition looking photo that looks as if it was taken a few days ago instead of almost 30 years ago. How times have changed!

We might ask ourselves what will come in future years… will it be cameras that are voice activated and take photos when you say a command word. A glimpse of this future was seen recently with Google glasses – wearable so that the user can go about his daily business and take pictures on the fly without even the need to take any sort of contraption out. To be honest I don’t know what the future holds for cameras but with all these upgrades over the years I am quite optimistic that we are due for some more amazing technological breakthroughs!

On thing I can say for sure is that cameras have come a long way from the 1800s box style cameras to the digital point and shoot cameras with changeable lenses, security cameras and so much more that we use now. Even so, despite the fact we have come so far, in 200 years I can see us looking back and wondering how we ever survived with what we have now!

Google presently working on its own branded Android Game Console

From an anonymous reliable source, a WSJ correspondence got a report that Google Inc is currently working on its own Android game console and wristwatch to be powered by its number one Operating System. The internet guru company is taking all measures to extend the software beyond tablets and smartphonesGoogle Android game console

Google making Android game console to rival Apple future product

The Android game console and digital watch will prepare Google for combat with similar devices Apple Inc may release in the near future.

Google not long released a media streaming device powered by its Android, and now a second version of the Nexus Q unveiled last year is coming public soon.

One of those devices will be coming out this fall, and will be marketed by Google itself.

Asking a Google spokeswoman about the issue, she declined to comment.

The Android gaming console and other planned hardware are part of Google’s effort to build the success of the Android software announced in 2008 which now powers about 75% of smartphones and 57% of tablets shipped worldwide in the first quarter as the report released by research firm IDC.

Over time, Android games have become so popular and growing faster than those made by the big guys in the gaming business, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo.

The latest versions of PlayStation and Xbox have recently been unveiled by Sony and Microsoft and are expected to kick off sales later in the year. Market researcher PwC released a report saying $24.9 billion sales of game console last year was credited to Nintendo’s account.

The veiled source claimed that Google is acting in line with expectation of rival Apple Inc will release a videogame console alongside with the next Apple TV product launch.

An attempt to get an Apple spokeswoman into talking failed.

Ouya Inc is a startup on game console that makes Android-powered gaming console, it began selling a $99 Android game console last week and Google has been critically watching the progress.

Some of the spokes person in the source said, the internet search giant will wrap up development on the next Android version which is intended to release this fall. The software is specifically developed in consideration of developing markets who prevalently could mostly afford lower-cost smartphones, a system Google is employing to firm up its Android market share globally.

Google via the Google X (Android unit) will be building devices from the Motorola hardware division it acquired last year which currently focuses on launching an Android smartphone called Moto X.

Other report says, as Google plans to release the next Android this fall, it makes aggressive effort to use the software to power other kinds of products including; Laptops and refrigerators.

PC makers like HP are currently working on Android laptops running the next version of the OS. An HP spokeswoman declined to make a word, but our source said the Android laptops would compete with those running on Microsoft’s Windows.

Google offers the Android software free to device manufacturers with Samsung being the biggest Google partner on hardware. Google generates loads of revenue from its Search and YouTube on those devices.

Google said it was close to generating $8 billion in gross revenue last fall from mobile devices, though analysts believes that the largest percentage of Google’s income on mobile comes from Search and YouTube used on Apple devices.

Those anonymous informants said Google is going to name the next Android as “Key Lime Pie” and manufacturers such as Samsung has been licensed to use the software beyond smartphone and tablets. Other appliances and wearable devices will be powered by Android.

Let’s patiently wait till the fall and see the wonders of Android on other devices including the Android game console from Google itself.

Challenge Your Broadband Internet with Virgin Media High-Speed Fiber Optic Connection

Let us try to imagine a contemporary family household. It has everything which acts in accordance to the capitalist conception of comfortable life, imposed by the advertising. A parking spot, a small garden behind the house, a barbecue grill, a second floor or a loft with high windows.

The obvious things, such as a couple of bedrooms, a children’s room, a dining room, a kitchen and a private bathroom may not be even mention. Also, an emblematic modern house of a successful and prosperous family is crammed with every achievable attribute of luxury.

An exceptionally convenient kitchen combine with countless features, a video game console, a dishwasher of the latest model with silent mode, a special wardrobe for shoes, an LCD screen with an unimaginable number of inches. An utopian spectacle appears in our sight, but is it realistic though?

There is a small detail which is missing. It is exceedingly simple to imagine a household of a modern family with or without all these features, but it is vividly impossible to imagine a modern household without internet.bolt vs blot

Almost everything what we do today requires an involvement of the internet. Regardless of the place, time and the type of our occupation, almost each and every one of us, members of a modern society, needs internet access.

Internet is indispensable for us in learning, in obtaining new information, for entertainment, for communication and making new acquaintances, for planning and conducting everyday life, for the job, in the long run.

Certainly, each of us can easily manage our lives without Internet – in spite of our dependence, it is just a habit, not an essential necessity. Without air, without water, without food, we will not be able to live, but to live with no internet is quite possible. The only problem is that giving up on a habit brings significant discomfort. The same discomfort we feel with the internet, when we are not getting enough of it.

Due to the fact that it is almost unattainable to imagine a modern and prosperous person, who has voluntarily resigned from the Internet without experiencing any problems with it, but only by savoring its benefits, we depict a situation when one has a deficiency of internet. It happens frequently, when the speed of the broadband is too low to use it comfortably. Probably, each of us at least once has found himself in a situation, when you want to watch a TV-show online or download an audio book, and this task proves to be almost insurmountable.

Eventually, even a mundane conversation on Skype can turn into a disaster if the internet speed is too low. When downloading files time becomes a different thing, it becomes non-linear. Nine minutes to download, one minute to download, twenty seconds to download, eight hours to download, three minutes to download, a light year to download.

Conversations over Skype may grow to be a torture, both for you and for your interlocutor.

So what is the cause of such a nightmare of an Internet user?

Easier way to challenge your broadband

The cause is concealed in the fact that the regular internet connection, which is granted to you by your provider, does not meet your requirements. The reason is that you still have not benefited from the new service of Virgin Media about high-speed fiber optic connection. Of course, many of you are confident in your provider and prefer to be loyal to the regular broadband. But to indulge in such necessary things like the Internet is purely unreasonable. Virgin Media does not insist and does not force you to reckless decisions. You can test for yourself and make your own conclusions. The time has come to challenge your broadband.

Virgin Media launches Challenge your broadband campaign with usain bolt

It does not take much time or effort, but if you challenge your broadband with our help, you can be convinced that this is not just a thin advertising course. If the speed of your Internet connection at home is approximately equal to the maximum rate, gained by a turtle, hurrying to the office, you have nothing to lose. And even if you are completely satisfied with the speed of your Internet connection, you have no reason to refuse such simple proposition like challenge your broadband.

In the end, the result of this test can be either your satisfaction with your service, or an unexpected insight about you deserving better.

For the past seven years Virgin Media is trying to take good care of our customers in the way no one else does it. After all, we in Virgin Media know that the best manifestation of concern is the provision of something more than needed, something much beyond that. Our new offer will provide you with such internet speed, which you have only dreamed of.

All you have to do is to hold your breath and challenge your broadband. And watch the results. If our new fiber optic broadband with super-fast streaming will not meet your requirements, you are free to keep your regular broadband. But with only a single thought about all of your dreams in high resolution and with incredibly high speed…

BlackBerry records Loss for the Quarter

As the quarter ended, Research in Motion has released its quarterly financial report for last quarter; BlackBerry recorded a more than expected loss of $84 million.RIM BlackBerry shares

Analyst has predicted a 6-cents gain per shares by the end of the quarter according to a Thomson Reuters survey and a surprise gain the following quarter, but instead, it was a woeful loss of 16 cents per share. The Friday report quaked BlackBerry’s share price down by 27% in early trading.

The company released its BlackBerry 10 about 5 months ago; everybody had thought that this release will be a push up for the rallying RIM’s BlackBerry share especially in the US.

At the quarter that ended in June 1, there was a little sign of the expected revival, when BlackBerry reported that, it had shipped 6.8 million handsets during that quarter, compared to the 7.8 million it shipped a year ago at the same quarter. BlackBerry 10 was 2.7 million out of that whole number.

An analyst at RBC Dominion Securities, Mark Sue wrote “A full quarter of BB10 sell-in should have resulted in better sales.”

When Thorsten Heins, RIM’s CEO was interviewed about customer’s reception of the BlackBerry 10, he said it will be too early to give an answer due to the fact that not all BlackBerry 10 models were available during the quarter, the version with the physical keyboard, BlackBerry Q10, just released into the US market last week.

Heins added “we are doing what we said we would do” and further warned investors of likelihood further losses this year, as RIM increases expenses on BB10 promotion and adverts.

BlackBerry lost 4million customers down to 72 million globally, and the company said it would stop releasing that figure in the near future.

The Canadian smartphone maker was able to increase its revenue by 15 percent $3.07 billion compare to the $2.8 billion revenue of same quarter last year, although the amount was below what analysts were expecting.

While there seems no hope for BlackBerry in the United States and other major markets, the company relies on growth in less economically developed markets to make up to its challenges. But the result from the last quarter shows there could be a calamity.

Devaluation and Foreign currency control in Venezuela reduced RIM’s earning by 10 cents a share d Latin America by 6 cents, places which were important markets for RIM.

Considering how RIM has so much invested in advertisement for its new product, the BlackBerry 10 seem to have failed to bring the company to the state it were in North America a year ago. Mr. Heins noted a time, when people were declaring the BlackBerry dead.

A report from RIM said BlackBerry dropped in revenue by 4.2 percent in North America a year ago to $761 million.

Finally, the CEO pointed to an increase of 15 percent by the company’s holdings which totals to $3.1 billion giving a sign that the company still has the financial strength to make the BlackBerry 10 a success.

Omni-channel marketing is a new solution to grow retail business

With the development of internet technologies, our life changed dramatically: gradually all people are getting involved in various social networks, blogs, chats, etc., and those have become their lifestyle, not just hobby or leisure. And, of course more and more people prefer online shopping instead of visiting any physical store. It happened for lots of reasons: shopping websites and marketplaces are constantly being upgraded with new options, functions, features as well as they are keeping high customer service, in some cases providing even more profitable deals and convenient services than many brick-and-mortar stores have to offer. That’s why now we can see changes in marketing approaches from a focus on classic channels – brick and web – to a new omni-channel mix: brick, web, mobile and social.

Omni-Channel retailing pyramid

Omni-Channel retailing pyramid

Internet transfigured retail word in several waves: transferring services to the web; e-commerce introducing; search and comparison shopping engines and marketplaces is a third wave; mobile shopping is the currently developing onset. Under such circumstances, all brands and retailers need to be more flexible, efficient, should diversify their merchant channels, promote SEO campaigns, and improve analytics capabilities.

Multi-channel retailing was firstly offered in 1999 by Circuit City: buy online – pick up in-store policy. Nowadays, if Multi-channel strategies seek to connect all the available channels, Omni-Channel is a step forward: retailers not just offering various shopping ways but analyze and consider influence of sales and track customers across all channels, not just one or two (physical stores, Web and mobile shops, TV, mail catalogs); they are also using unique software to operate and synchronize the data between online and offline business.

Evolution of Multi-channel to Omni-ChannelEvolution of Multi-channel to Omni-Channel

Thus, Omni-channel marketing policy is a perfect way of constant innovations and sales growth for offline retailers as well, suggesting a solution for that: valuable software, mobile applications, QR codes, kiosks, social networks representation, online and mail catalogs, personal approach and unique offers, introduction of SoLoMoMe (social + local + mobile + personalized) marketing strategy and more. These measures should be aimed to turn prospects into real buyers or to improve customer experience like “site ->store ->door”; others (Staples, L.L. Bean, OfficeMax) prefer collaborating with the marketplaces like Amazon to put their merchandise to various showcases.

Omni-Channel – the next generation of online marketing: main constitutive elements.

omnichannel graphically represented

Bright and fresh examples of such modern solutions are represented by iKantam, an e-commerce applications developer. Nomi, RapidBlue, Euclide Analytics, Prism Skylabs provide hi-tech software for in-store usage. They offer wi-fi for tracking the store traffic flow, sensors for recording store movement data, sensors forming heat maps based on time and zone, special applications for video cameras, etc. All similar measures are certainly going to contribute to market enrichment and business growing.

Omni-Channel approach is fully customer-oriented, thus, in addition it is necessary to implement “listening” strategies which could be: human or automated. The first means becoming an active member of corresponding virtual communities and searching out appropriate content there. The second means using high-end technologies and software which fulfill human functions and automatically search and listen to large amount of available social media data. This model is used to make correct conclusions about what do people feel about the company, what experience they got and what problems they met, as well as how many new consumers were attracted by the others.

Operating principle of Omni-Channel marketing

Operating principle of Omni-Channel marketing

For instance, Macy’s uses targeted email offers based on users’ website browsing history. In addition, they have an opportunity now do keep track of current shopper’s location from mobile devices.  If the customer left a store without a purchase made, then the store manager can mail them a coupon.  If the customer is making a choice or is in doubt, then he can wait for a SMS promotion. All such measures require very fast response and constant monitoring the latest trends and market conditions.

Base stats of online market development for over the last yearBase stats of online market development for over the last year

Thus, Omni-channel market rapid development is caused by rise of mobile shoppers and constantly introduced innovations, so this trend is going to move further. In turn, Brick-and-mortar traders must expand their influence by adding new channels, optimizing their in-house and mobile services to satisfy as much information hungry and mobile empowered customers as possible.

Samsung Launch sales of Curved OLED TVs

Technological growth has refused to leave a loop space, as everything is affected. The old time TVs don’t show colored images, when the color technology came, we thought we have got it all right and that will be the alpha and omega of TV making in the black big box that requires your whole household to lift when about to be placed. This age really proved things wrong as cinema has now being brought right into our living rooms. It doesn’t end there. Samsung is telling us that the flat screen system will soon become an old school and came up with its completely different patented innovation; The Curved OLED TV.Samsung curved OLED TV

Samsung in an attempt to maintain its position as the leader in the television market kicked off the sales of its new next generation curved OLED TV, but set at a whooping of $13,000.

The Korean based electronics company already took nearly a third of global volume in TV deals, it plans to stay at the top and released two types of next generation technology: Organic light emitting diode screen that are lighter and more vivid than the conventional liquid crystal display, and ultra-high definition that boasts four times the resolution of present ones.

As reported by The Wall Street Journal, rivals LG Electronics Inc and Sony Corp are also on fire to bomb out these kinds of technologies.

An analyst from Nomura in Seoul, C.W. Chung, said “The technology is still not mature and production cost is extremely high for large OLED sets.”

As analyst spoke, they specified that the rollout is just a publicity effort for Samsung, but not really an effort to actually sell those TVs. The focal point will be how companies can quickly produce heavy quantity large OLED sets at cheaper rates.Samsung curved OLED TVs

The mechanism behind the curved OLED TV

Wondering if this curved technology is not an error rather than the flat stuffs we are used to, Samsung said viewing images from curved displays is really comfortable to the human eye, the shape enables the distance between the viewer and the screen to be the same from most angles.

The world largest TV maker would start selling the 55-inch curved OLED TV sets in 20 stores at its home country South Korea. The time those sets will be available elsewhere is not specified.

The display units at Samsung has so much invested in OLED displays, highly touted for superthin, light structures because they don’t require backlight and are more energy efficient than the present displays. The challenge now is the mass production because of the technological constraint involved in producing large screen in high number volume. The company has long being using the OLED technology in its smartphone especially the Galaxy line.

Sony in 2007 introduced its first 11-inch model OLED color set, but the company had faced the challenges of improving these technologies in larger sizes. The big challenge made Sony conclude that mass producing the OLED screen will result in huge loss except consumers are willing to pay heavy amount above the price of LCD sets. Sony’s TV business has been unprofitable for nine years and has refused to make OLED sets for the past six years.

Although the company has been engaging in researches and development work, but it has not laid out plans to venture into making OLED screens for consumers. At the CES 2013, Sony showcased a prototype ultrahigh-definition, 56-inch OLED TV. It is working with Panasonic Corp to develop new production method for OLED panels.

Samsung on the other hand has been hyping OLED TV sets for years hoping that as it builds expertise in the technology, production cost will fall.

Although for some couple of years, the company has to continue in the manufacturing of normal LCD sets to save its profit margin from falling until things get right for the large-screen curved OLED TV models.

Samsung has been experiencing weak demand in its consumer electronics reaching 2% in the first quarter.

The OLED TV models have been unveiled over a year now by Samsung, but there have been difficulties in bringing them to market.

Apart from the curved OLED TV technologies, other product introduced by Samsung includes; Ultra-high definition models with 55 and 65-inch LCD screens.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra Phablet, the best Sony product so far

The latest Sony smartphone product belongs to the Xperia family, it is a 6.44-inch LTE-enabled phablet powered by the Qualcomm number one Snapdragon 800 processor. Apart from being the best, it is also the biggest handset from Sony. I am talking about the new Sony Xperia Z Ultra.Sony Xperia Z Ultra

What’s up with the new Sony Xperia Z Ultra hands on?

At the CES 2013, Sony showcased its water and dust proof Xperia Z smartphone, now I think Sony is producing the senior brother and called it “Xperia Z Ultra.”

Design

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra has a very attractive look which is advancement on the CES Xperia Z. The front and rear is made up of metallic frame with tempered glass which gives it a minimalistic, stylish appeal. According to the CNET product review dude, he confessed that you will be impressed handling the smartphone just like it used to be with the Xperia Z with its ultra 6.55mm thinness.

Recently, Sony has employed the slim body as a market strategy for its products; it used the same in the Xperia Tablet Z, and now, the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, even though the phablet is not as thin as the Huawei’s Ascend P6 with the 6.18mm body.

As big as the device is, Sony intelligently made it easily hand-held, the Sony phablet weighs 212g a little heavier than the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 with 198g which rather has a plastic-made chassis.

The 6.44 inch display full-HD Triluminous on the Sony Xperia Z Ultra is so fascinating. It’s like the color shift issue on the Xperia Z has been resolved, the color is so vibrant and crisp.

Features

Just like the IP58 durability rating on the Xperia Z, the Sony Xperia Z is also water and dust proof. This is a very good smartphone for the frogmen; you can take full-HD videos underwater with its 8 megapixel camera. Even though the Xperia Z came with a 13-megapixel shooter, the 8 megapixel on the Ultra could have an advantage for better low light shots.Sony Xperia Z Ultra phablet

The device maker made a stylus on the Sony Xperia Z Ultra making it a true phablet, besides the follow-come stylus, you can write on the screen with your pencil or a metal pen, but it’s not pressure sensitive and won’t detect a thicker line with your free hand, you will manually select your brush size in the sketch app.Sony Xperia Z Ultra phablet

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra will be the first Sony product to run on the latest Jelly Bean Android 4.2.

More features on the Sony Xperia Z Ultra include Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi and screen mirroring.

Expect an inbuilt storage of 16GB with a microSD card slot for expansion on the phablet device; it also has a RAM of 2GB.

It also packs a 3,000mAh battery.

Performance

Sony Xperia Z Ultra is powered by a 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor; you should expect something extra on the speed.

Sony promises a video playback of up to 5.5 hours and a talk time of 11 hours on the Sony Xperia Z Ultra.

Outlook

The phalet expected to stand this Sony device is the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Samsung has to do a lot of homework on the coming device, and Sony has set a benchmark on the Ultra in the world of phablets.

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra is expected to launch globally at Q3 in 3 colors; black, white and purple.

Office Setup: Different types of Sydney Office Workstations to Watch out for

Apart from the Sydney opera house, there are a lot of things to see in the district of Sydney. One of them is the unique office workstations Sydney has to offer. As it has becoming a world fact, Sydney is turning itself into a business capital complete with offices that cater to every need. What one does not know that inside Sydney office workstations are works of art that compliment to the Australian mind.

Psychologists say that ‘your office workstations reflect who you are.

That is why in Sydney, office workstations are usually the expression of the self.

However, there are standards that one lives by that is why this quick guide tells you of the most common Sydney office workstations that you should watch out for.

Types of Sydney Office Workstations

Standard Sydney Workstations with Office facilities

Ergonomic Workstation

The first one is an ergonomic workstation.  It comes from the word ergonomics which the study of putting things in order with complete functionality and efficiency. Many engineers have tried to decipher the ergonomics in an office workstation. However, it is only Sydney office workstations that managed to collate all the ideas into one desk.

Ergonomic workstations are those that have premium comfort for the body. You would know that because Sydney office workstations are designed to practically fit the human body as not stressing it as one works. This avoids musculoskeletal disorders which are common in an office set-up.

Armories Workstation

The second type of Sydney office workstations are those called the Armories Workstation. It is derived from it names armories which refers to a stock reserve in any military battle. This workstation hides its computer system so it would not be seen by many.

Unlike other desks which tend to be cluttered, the armories workstation keeps its monitor, CPU, scanner, printer and other computer-related parts inside the workstation for added convenience. The only drawback of this Sydney office workstation is that it is very practical and not ideal for those who plan to decorate their tables.

Network Workstation

Another type of workstation is the network workstation. Sydney office workstations like this have LAN connection which is connected to a main server in the company. It normally serves as a link between your personal computer to the other computers and devices in the office. This is common nowadays especially in companies where file sharing is very necessary for them to move in their work. Without the LAN connection, there will be disruption of the workflow.

One disadvantage of this however is that employees might abuse the LAN connection by playing games and sending personal messages to co-workers and outside correspondence.

Modular Workstation

Lastly, there’s the modular workstation. When we hear the word modular, in Sydney office workstations like these have components that are based on your working requirements. It is like assembling your own workstation. You can choose from having shelves, drawers, and other equipment that is needed in your workstation. How to Specify Lighting Design like an Architect

Lighting is the finishing touch to any well-designed building. The skill of lighting design is now a recognized profession, although many of us still make do with the old fashioned suspended light bulb in the centre of the room.

Good lighting design is all about literally showing off a building in the best lights. As well as providing the best illumination, good lighting design will take account of ecological factors, efficiency and the aesthetic appearance of the lights themselves.

We are becoming more aware of lighting design – up and down lighters are becoming more common for example, but many homes are still designed with the standard dangling bulb.

Psychology behind Effective Lighting Design

Lighting design in a bedroom by expert

The roots of lighting design lie in physics. In 1860 a British scientist called John Tyndall was working on a glacier when he first observed that shining more light on something did not always make it more visible.

However, it took some time for Tyndall’s discovery to filter through to architectural lighting design. Through the 20th century, the spread of cheap electricity through society meant that a more-is-better philosophy dominated the thinking behind lighting design. The iconic sight of the American city was of brightly illuminated skyscrapers even if those skyscrapers were empty.

Lighting design did become more sophisticated. Concerns about energy use lead to the use of more daylight. Designers also came to recognize that much of the electricity used in illuminating buildings was waster – there was massive overkill in lighting.

Lighting has a practical role, to provide the right level of illumination for the room’s purpose, whether that be working or just relaxing, at a level that is comfortable for the occupants. The lighting should also be attractive in itself as well as efficient and environmentally friendly.

The best lighting design goes beyond this to become part of the attraction of the room and the best practice in lighting design is to involve lighting designers early in the process of designing a room or building.

Daylight is the first consideration in lighting design. Then the materials used in the room’s design should be considered. A room that is finished in dark wood, for example, will take a lot more lighting to achieve the same level of brightness as a similar space finished in light colours.

The lighting should also be designed to complement the finish of the room. Architects usually specify plaster lights – they blend with the commonest wall finishing material, can be easily painted to fit any colour scheme and are heat and fire resistant.

Plaster is also capable of a much better quality finish than the other commonest finishes, ceramics and metals. That means cast, curved lights and even very elaborate luminaries can be produced to the best possible quality and finish. Plaster lights are also well suited to low energy lighting systems.

Indirect lighting needs more thought than a simple central light bulb. The surfaces from which light will be reflected must be considered as must any obstacles to the lighting scheme.

Research suggests that good lighting, maximizing the exposure to daylight and avoiding ‘over lighting’ can have a positive impact on worker’s productivity, student exam results and even patient recovery in hospital. At home, you’ll feel better with better lighting. Bad lighting can cause tiredness and headaches.

The science of lighting design is still evolving. Physics and biology are explaining how we see things and designers are incorporating this knowledge into their work.

While the science moves on, one of our most ancient building materials – plaster – remains the unbeatable best for curved lights.
