Siri Makes another Blunder Again – Tells Little Boy to ‘Shut the F— Up,’ Calls Him ‘Ugly’

This time when we thought Siri’s problems might have been solved are many other issues arising. The latest glitch a boy encountered with Siri might even turn this iPhone 4S personal assistant something else. Siri thought the boy was named “Shut the f— up, you ugly t—“, and it replied the boy that way.Iphone 4S Siri assistant

As a statement by MSBC, it reads:

Siri probably thought the boy’s name was “Shut the f— up, you ugly t—.”

If we’re to believed the report from The Sun, a demo unit of the iPhone 4S has caught fire by telling a 12-year-old child by name, Charlie Le Quesne to “Shut the f— up, you ugly t—.”

Charlie was said to have asked Siri “How many people are there in the world?” and the answer he got from the personal help giant for the iPhone 4S device amazed the boy.

After the incident, the boy and his mother and their manager, asked the demo iPhone 4S device the same question and got the same answer back again from Siri. And immediately they noticed that the demo is making some blunders, they returned it back to Apple for “diagnostic tests.”

The negative answers was believed to have stemmed from Siri thinking that the questioner’s name was “Shut the f— up, you ugly t—.”

All of this event happened at a U.K. Tesco supermarket. And it is worth noting that on normal U.K. iPhones, Siri’s default voice is like that of a male and not like that one in the U.S which is female-like.

Sylvania Netbook – An Unknown Contender in The Market

Sylvania Netbook – An Unknown Contender in The Market

Sylvania isn’t a company name you hear being thrown around all that often. You may remember them as the knock off TV manufacturer from the 90s that tried to undercut prices by selling to big box retailers like Walmart and Target. While their netbook is available online this time around, they’re still making their move on drug stores in the US like CVS and Walgreens. Many of the reviews online for the Sylvania netbook are based on experiences with the ones purchased in the stores.Sylvania Netbook

Compared to other netbooks, this one is really quite different. It isn’t what you’d expect out of the term “netbook at all.” Let’s take a look at what’s inside and why it may or may not be worth your money.

The Rundown

To put it simply, this is a PDA in a laptop body. I’ve tried to look at it from different angles and see what they were trying to accomplish with the specs that could be “netbook worthy.” Essentially they’ve taken a core from a PDA or other handheld device and encased it into a more functional laptop body: which is fantastic for anyone who is looking to invest on a low cost netbook, doesn’t need a super powerful computer and only wants to browse the web, but is terrible for anyone expecting to do any “real” computing on it.

What do I mean by all of that? Well considering the fact that the Sylvania SYNET only has 128MB of RAM and a 7” screen, you can’t exactly watch movies on it, nor can you open up Photoshop to touch up a recent family photo. Instead, this machine runs on a little known operating system called Windows CE. It was originally designed to be used exclusively in PDAs and handle mobile applications on certain handhelds. When it’s blown up to be used on a full laptop screen (800×400), things become a little different.Sylvania Netbook review

In many cases, mobile applications will load in your browser instead of the full applications. This is because websites see the operating system as a mobile operating system and do what they can to optimize their site for slower computers. This is great for those that don’t want all of the features of a site and only want to get online to check their email and bank account information before closing the lid on their computer and getting back to other things.

My Thoughts

And that leads me to my main point. Who is this computer really for? Any computer savvy individual would stay away from this machine like it was the plague, and maybe rightfully so if they’re doing everything they can to keep up with the times. But for those users who don’t want anything fancy (think grandparent or young child), these cheap netbooks are fantastic. They’re not rigged out for anything more than just simple web browsing and basic application use, but that’s the point.

They’re super affordable and can do all of the basic tasks that computers are generally used for anyway. It’s very rare that I fire up anything more than a text document and a web browser to get my work done, so there’s no reason why anyone should shun the Sylvania SYNET because of how “out of date” it is.

Other Sylvania Netbook Specifications:

  • Screen: 7″ LCD. VIA 8505 Processor.
  • 128MB RAM.
  • Resolution: 800 x 480 Pixels.
  • Main Storage: SD Card.
  • WiFi 802.11 b/g.
  • Ethernet: RJ-45.
  • Audio: Stereo Speakers, Earphone Jack.
  • USB Ports: 3 USB Ports.
  • Windows OS: Win CE 6.0.
  • Optical Drive: None.
  • Battery Capacity: 8.4 V 1800mAh Built In Lithium Battery.

Conclusion

To wrap up this relatively short review, I’d like to just reiterate everything that’s been said above. If you want this machine to act like a modern computer I suggest looking at a different machine. This Sylvania won’t do most of the “standard” things we take for granted like run a full iTunes library alongside a packed web browser.

What it will do is allow users to get online in a no fuss environment that allows them to “get in and get out” without getting bogged down with extra software and features that they don’t need. If my grandparents didn’t already own computers, this would for sure be on my Christmas list for them this year.

Laptop or Tablet: Which One is Best for Your Needs?

Once upon a time, laptops were the way to go for those who wanted a small portable device for computing on-the-go. Today, the touch screen tablet has taken the computing world by storm, by integrating many of the same features that made modern smartphones a pleasure to use with the portability and functionality offered by an ordinary laptop.

With many tablet options costing less than a bargain-minded laptop, its tempting to go with a tablet based on price alone, but is it really what you need, or would you be better off with a laptop?

Would you go for laptop or tablet? – see the features of each and benefits that you can derived from using each of these gadgets before you can decide on the one you’re going to choose below.

Laptop or Tablet? Which way to go?

laptop or tablet computer - which one is the best for you to choose

Tablets offer a number of advantages in areas where laptops less adept:

Tablets are, by far, much easier to tote around and use on the go, even when compared to an ultralight laptop. Unlike an ordinary laptop, you won’t have to flip up a screen and find a place to rest it on just to use a tablet.

  • The touch screens used on tablets provide a more tactile experience than a mouse.
  • Most tablets weigh less than a pound, making them much lighter to carry.
  • Some tablets offer a longer battery life than most laptops.

However, laptops have plenty of qualities that make them superior to tablets:

  • The physical keyboard presents a better option for those who need to type for long periods or those who just don’t like typing on touch screens.
  • The screen is much larger than most tablets.
  • Laptops offer more powerful processors and stronger graphics for gaming and other programs. Most laptops also feature more data storage and memory than most tablets.
  • You can easily upgrade a laptop with more hard drive space and more memory, something you can’t do with a tablet.
  • You don’t have to worry about scratching the laptop’s screen, in most cases. In the end, it all comes down to what you want out of your mobile computing solution. Those who want a powerful mobile computing solution that features plenty of data storage space will be better off with an appropriately equipped laptop, while those who value lightness and quick access will prefer tablets. To save money, make sure to look for laptop deals. Keep in mind that a number of tablets can be paired with separate accessories that aim to replicate the full computer experience, including keyboards, trackpads and screen stands.

If given a choice between a tablet and a laptop at the same price, which one would you buy and for what reasons?

The Kindle Fire is No iPad, but Does it Matter?

Despite the fact that it’s only recently been released, the Kindle Fire is expected to be the second-most popular tablet device in the world by the end of this year, according to the market research firm HIS. What does this mean? Does it mean that the Kindle Fire is better than, or as good as, the iPad? Actually, the answer to that question might surprise you.

The Kindle Fire is not as good as the iPad in many ways. It just doesn’t have the capabilities of the much larger, memory and screen-wise, iPad. However, the Fire also doesn’t come with a five hundred dollar plus price tag. At around two hundred, it is less than half the price of the iPad, and that’s something that cash-strapped consumers are very aware of. In this tough economy, many people can’t afford another computer, but they can afford a small, portable tablet.Kindle Fire now run on Ice Cream Sandwich ICS

The portability of the Kindle is another reason for its popularity. The difference between a seven inch screen and a ten inch screen doesn’t seem like much to talk about, but a seven inch tablet can fit into purses and briefcases that at ten inch iPad never could. As well as being more portable, the Kindle Fire is also lighter, though apparently not light enough for some.

“The Fire is a heavy object. It’s unpleasant to hold for extended periods of time. Unless you have fore-arm muscles like that of Popeye, you cannot comfortably sit and read an engaging novel all evening,” said web usability expert Jakob Nielsen.

“The lack of physical buttons for turning the page also impedes on the reading experience for fiction. On the older Kindles, it’s easy to keep a finger on the button when all you use it for is to turn the page. In contrast, tapping any area on the screen disrupts reading enjoyment, is slightly error-prone, and leaves smudges on the screen. The Fire screen also has more glare than the traditional Kindle,” he continued in his review.

Not everyone is happy with the changes Amazon has made to the traditional Kindle. Many complainants of screen glare, touchiness, and difficulty in using the web have been made, and yet the Kindle Fire is still selling like hotcakes.

GigaOm’s Colin Gibbs replied to Nielsen’s critique:

“When it comes to new tablets, I think we all suffer from a case of heightened expectations due to the fantastic iPad. The Kindle Fire is inferior to Apple’s tablet, to be sure, but it’s much smaller and much cheaper — so that should be no surprise. Other Kindle Fire reviews have been much more positive, and I think the device will find a big audience of consumers willing to sacrifice some performance and size for the more attractive price.”

All in all, the Kindle beats out the iPad in one important spot- buyer’s pocketbooks.

Time-Saving Tips for Managing a Newsletter

Time-Saving Tips for Managing a Newsletter

Managing a newsletter is a huge topic and many thick books are written about it, so even if I wanted to, I wouldn’t be able to make this article a comprehensive resource on the topic. Still, if you are new to newsletter management, here are some very, very basic tips that will help you have the process under control.Subscribe to our newsletter for updates

Choose a Reliable WordPress Plugin

There are many ways to skin a cat and if you want to run a newsletter, there are many platforms that power it. However, all equal, the best choice is a WordPress newsletter plugin because it is much cheaper than the other alternatives, the leading WordPress newsletter plugins are very powerful and they have offer all the features you will need. If you choose a good newsletter plugin, then newsletter management will be a very easy task.

Provide an HTML and a TXT Version

A busy newsletter manager will always look for ways to make the task easier and to him or her it might look like a waste of time to provide two versions of the newsletter. However, since both HTML and TXT versions have their pros and cons and more importantly, there will always be users who won’t be able to receive HTML versions of your newsletter, it is only wise to offer both. Don’t worry, you won’t have to do it manually – many good WordPress newsletter plugins do it automatically and the only thing you will have to do is check if the output is OK.

Always Include Roundups

This is a tip to help you save your time, while aiming at better results. Roundups of your site content are easy to prepare, they fill the newsletter well, and they will push your readers to check your site for more details. The simplest form of a roundup is to include the headlines and the intro from the articles on your site in your newsletter and point to the site for more. Of course, if you aren’t under time constraints (lucky you!) you can create original roundups especially for the newsletter but since this isn’t necessary, don’t regret if you can’t do it.

Always Have Some Timeless Content in Stock

One of the pressing things about running a newsletter is that it is best to publish it on schedule than at random intervals. This means that when the publish day is dooming, you must have the issue ready. If you are busy, it is quite possible you won’t have the time for this and you will be missing deadlines pretty often. To make your life easier, you can stock some timeless content (i.e. howto articles as opposed to news pieces) and include it when you don’t have the time to write original content.

Track Your Conversions

I don’t know what your expectations were when you started a newsletter but if you see it doesn’t work the way you imagined it – i.e. it doesn’t increase your sales and/or the traffic to your site, this means you need to make adjustments. It makes no sense to waste time and effort on fruitless activities. If you track your conversions, you will now what is working well and what needs to be improved. With the right WordPress newsletter plugin tracking conversions is very easy but it will help you spot weak areas that don’t deserve so much attention, so that you can concentrate on the areas that have a better potential.

I guess every newsletter manager has his or her small secrets about how to manage the process. There are many more tips I can tell you but for a short article these will suffice. If you do have cute tips on your own, you could share them in the comments section.

What I feel about the two phones?
Firstly there’s an upgraded 12.1mp camera on the new iPhone, however the iPad 3 has the li’l A7 chip built in, which makes running multiple applications, and surfing the internet blazing fast.

The iPhone 5 is a better deal at 3 easy payments of $39.95 on new 3 year activation, however the iPad 3 has that sweet “Protect all” case now included, which makes it virtually indestructible, even when swimming with it!!

Although, if I were you, I’d say go for the iPad 3. Now that Apple has integrated a phone into the unit, so that it is basically an iPhone, only huge, and not so pocket sized…I think the choice is clear.

So my friend what you feel with which you want to go you want iPad 3 or iphone 5 which one you vote for…come up with your comment and which Feature you support most?

Mobile Phone Spy playing large role in Divorce cases

First it was social networking and now it is apps such as the mobile phone spy which are being termed as important factors in divorce proceedings. People every day are finding such apps useful in removing detrimental people from their lives, in terms of married couples the app has gone a step further.

Mobile phone spy apps work in stealth mode and collect all data and information which belongs to the phone owner. Several spouses have submitted to court the fact that they installed the mobile phone spy on their significant others phone. Details of their email communication, videos, pictures, text messages, contacts, call history etc. were all extracted from the phone through the mobile phone. It was later submitted as evidence of wrongdoing so that one party could claim more damage than the other.

Mobile Phone Spy playing large role in Divorce cases

Mobile Phone Spy playing large role in Divorce casesIn divorce cases where a large property is involved the iPhone spy app played a large role in tipping the scale in the favor of the installer. No mobile phone spy is easily traceable by the person whose phone it has invaded, which means that while it continues to collect and transmit their personal data and information to a remote online account which is only available for the installer to see. Splitting up who gets what is typically a hard and lengthy procedure when it comes to divorce cases, but not if one party can be proved as a bona fide cheater.

Cases where prenuptial agreements were part and parcel of the marriage have been complicated by the evidence created through mobile phone spy. A prenuptial agreement typically involves clauses relating to cheating or behavior which is harmful for the marriage.

Evidence collected through the mobile phone spy has become instrumental for some spouses in proving themselves the victim and shutting their soon-to-be-exes out of picture when it comes to the division of assets.

The mobile phone spy lets the installer secretly call the target phone where he/she either listens to whatever the target is saying/doing at the moment, or record it for later use. Recordings can easily be introduced during court sessions by the installer to support his/her side.

On top of this, the apps such as the iPhone spy app can trace the target user and records their locations constantly.Tracking can be done with GPS at a minimum interval of 8 minutes. And it doesn’t stop even if GPS is turned on because the iPhone spy app is able to latch onto different Wi-Fi and satellite connections and continuously send in updates.

Any cases where one’s spouse left for work but ended up at a hotel are caught in an instant. There are more cases we could relate with this article.

Have you ever had any experience related to surveillance by your spouse or someone close to you? Would you mind share them with us?
